A small girl on a frozen pond… skates in hand.
A small pond… trees nearby… snow is falling.
A bench to put on her skates.
A twinkle in her eye.
Touched by the wind on her face.
Spinning… spinning… spinning.
Snowflakes are falling.
Together, a picture.
A young woman kneels near the ice.
Her eyes catch the eyes of a small girl there.
Spinning… spinning…
She feels the presence of eyes upon her.
An old woman sits on the bench.
Her thoughts drift…
Eyes twinkle behind closed lids.
Painting pictures in the snow.
A small girl arrives… she sits on an empty bench.
Snowflakes fall.
She looks over a frozen pond… trees nearby.
A gust of wind… snowflakes spinning.

Knocking outside
on the door.
Inside—
on the knees.
The visitor, an empty
aching hollow shell—
His fog of breath wafting.
Her fingers clatter.
She had left him at last.
Blood drips
in the corridor—
Her knife is now useless.

Brilliant yellow.
Crimson red.
Rainbow colors above your head.
Hidden moon.
Silenced howl.
Lingering breath without a growl.
Ice crystals growing.
Lingering breath.
Welcoming now your imminent death.
Such haunting beauty
Your final room
Such dreadful thoughts knowing your doom.
Whistling wind
Screams at your door
Trapped deep underground forever more.
