FORGOTTEN
silent bells recall
foggy forgotten towns—
tall boots
horse hooves long ago—
moved quick— click clack
cobblestone clatter—
now—
silent
port of the unknown
wrinkled hands
put down the hoe
cramped hands
released the reins
field hands
limped into
town squares
stopped— stood—
in broken places
forgotten memories reach
to remember
click clack
no longer rolling upon—
star fish glimmer in dark waters—
canada geese
now—
unencumbered
outposts
calling redemption— renewal
grain— long gone
from silos—
now—
empty— ringing hollow
unending
river banks
woundings—
snow
fire
needles no longer thread the patchwork
the sky wobbles on a fragile stick
to reach above realms
no longer true
parallel universes
now—
recall
tired eyes
peering into blackness
woods reflect upriver—
slack tide
bore tide
crucibles
hands reversal upon reins—
plow’s rusted spokes
then turned towards
a dead end
lane lines
lanes end—
only the ley lines remain
rambling breeze—
now—
empty
wind mills
wind chimes
cracked bells
now—
recall remembering
foggy forgotten towns
now—
silent
